OYO Cater is a new one-stop shop for easy online ordering for catering. Whether you regularly place orders for catering at work, or whether you have a big group of people to feed on the weekend, there are plenty of options and it’s quick and easy.
Similar to other online ordering and delivery services, you can choose a restaurant or catering company from a list of options. It’s clearly stated how much the delivery charge is, what the minimum order is, and how much notice they need to fulfil your order. Once you choose a restaurant, the menu and prices are available to peruse, indicating how many people each dish serves (for example, when I ordered from Cinnamon I could choose a dish for 5 or for 10 people). You can add comments to each menu item you order, and to the full order like I did – meet me on the 32nd floor elevator lobby then call my cell.
When you click on the + symbol on any menu item, options specific to that restaurant will come up, like: Do you like it spicy? Vegetarian? Beef or chicken? How many orders do you want? Once you place your order you can easily reorder it again or mark it as a favourite. If you often order catering I think this would definitely make your life a bit easier!
There were 6 of us at work who joined forces and we ordered from Cinnamon Indian Cuisine & Bar for lunch. None of us had ever been to the restaurant and we thought it would be a great winter option. We chose: Veggie Pakora, Tandoori Chicken, Palak Paneer, Butter Chicken and Naan. The butter chicken and paneer came with rice so we didn’t have to order any separately. With the number of dishes that we chose, we figured that selecting the option for 5 people rather than 10 people should be fine.
We had so much food for 6 people that we all got to eat leftovers the next day. We were super impressed with the quantity of food and the taste. We all enjoyed it – even the newbie who’d never had Indian food before loved it! A few of us even thought it was the best Indian food we’ve had in Calgary (those are pretty big words for takeout!). The restaurant threw in a couple containers of veggies but honestly those were the last thing we wanted to eat when given the alternatives 🙂 The green chutney and the red sauce (what’s it called?) were super tasty too (although my photo isn’t very flattering). The only thing that was awkward was we were provided with spoons rather than forks for eating. The spoons were great as serving utensils but most of us preferred to eat with forks and went scrounging through cupboards to find some.
I’m definitely looking forward to eating at Cinnamon again, whether in the restaurant or delivery. If you every have to order catering, check out the OYO Cater website and let me know what you think!
