After a much needed trip to the nearby spa, my friend C and I went for lunch at Joey Crowfoot. I wasn’t super hungry because I had quite a bit of leftover sushi from Sushi Ai for breakfast, but when C asked if we should share an appy I couldn’t turn her down.
We shared the lettuce wraps for $15.75 (you could add chicken or shrimp for an extra $2.50 but we kept them veggie). You place the mixture of wok vegetables, peanuts, crispy noodles, hoisin oyster sauce and cilantro into a leaf of iceberg lettuce and try not to make a huge mess when you shove it into your mouth. These wraps were super tasty and could make a light lunch for one person (or maybe a more complete meal with a serving of french fries!). I would get the wraps again for sure (but maybe not on a first date).
C ordered the Yellowfin Tuna salad for $20.25 with seared rare tuna, mango, peanuts, avocado, crispy noodles, and cilantro ginger dressing. She thought the salad and noodles were awesome but thought the tuna and the green dressing was a bit bland.
I ordered the Veggie Burger for $17.25 with brown rice, mushroom, almonds, miso dressing & sprouts. There was also tomatoes, pickles, avocado and cucumbers piled high on this burger. If you like a traditional rice based veggie burger I would definitely recommend this puppy. It’s huge and super filling, with lots of veggies and lots of flavour. I ordered the house salad instead of the fries and it was super delicious. If every side salad at every restaurant tasted like this I would always order the salad instead of the fries (whoa – did I just say that!?).
Overall, I thought the food was great. The atmosphere was typical of a big chain restaurant and service was pleasant. Given the few other options in the area I would definitely choose to return if I was in the area at mealtime again.
[…] and almonds with a miso dressing this burger is piled HIGH with veggies! You can see my full review here and I would definitely eat this burger (and the salad) […]
