A bunch of co-workers and I purchased a big order of chocolates from The Chocolate Lab which is just a few blocks away from our office. I wasn’t the one to pick them up, so I haven’t seen the inside of the shop. The packaging was very professional and sharp. With coordinating bags and boxes, The Chocolate Lab presents their chocolates with confidence.
I picked out 12 bon bons from the selection and received 13 – how nice! I quite enjoyed each bon bon, but I definitely have my favourites. I’ve posted some close ups of some of the bon bons and starred my favourite ones below.
**Strawberry Earl – Very nice, with a light strawberry flavour but not much earl grey taste. It wasn’t a fake strawberry taste like you so often get in chocolates
Chai on Life – Subtle and earthy, not too sweet, kind of spicy like chai tea
**Dulcinea – Very yummy! Smooth chocolate and coffee flavour
**Caramellow – Delicious! A soft caramel centre – not too sweet or sticky
Ocean Waves – A smooth chocolate
**The King & I – Creamy peanut butter!
Ginger spice – This one was not a favourite of mine…
Scotch on the Rocks – A very subtle booze flavour with Pop Rocks. Could have used a bit more Pop Rocks…
**Lemon Yuzu Passion – A complex fruit flavour – elegant and delicious. Try this one!
Rhubarb – Light and smooth, with subtle flavour.
**LL Dean – Cherry and booze – an excellent combination!
I also got a 8 pack of truffles which came in an assortment of 4 flavours. My favourite by far was the peanut butter one. I actually liked the bon bons a lot more than I liked the truffles. One of my coworkers really enjoyed the Orange Dreamsicle and the Strawberry Earl bon bons, simply because they had the most flavour of the ones she had selected. Someone else ordered the caramels, but I haven’t had a chance to ask her what she thought of them.
The Chocolate Lab creates bon bons that are little works of art. Very unique in their presentation, the chocolates also come in very interesting flavours. I think some of the chocolates could be more flavourful, but perhaps that is why some of them are so good – they’re subtle and not too sweet. If you need chocolates for a special occasion, I would recommend checking out The Chocolate Lab downtown!
