I have to admit – we came here once over two years ago, had a bad experience, and didn’t return until now. In the meantime there have been a number of really good and really bad reviews online, so I was always really torn about going back. It turns out, we really did have a good experience. We went on a Tuesday night – 35 cent wings in the lounge, but no specials in the restaurant. In fact, when we walked in, the special board stated ‘no veal’ and ‘no salmon fillet’… not really a great first impression. But, we were greeted by a friendly young woman and our service all night was friendly and polite. Once we got our food we weren’t checked on for quite a while, but otherwise the service was fine.
Apparently on Tuesday’s they give out complimentary bruschetta. It was a nice fresh treat. The bread they served us was piping hot and the garlic butter was awesome – I kept slathering it on the hot bread and eating more and more…
We asked our server what the rabbiata calamari was (pan fried in a tomato sauce), but she steered us towards getting the deep fried calamari with house made tzatziki. She was right – it was good calamari, and there was lots of it. For $11.95 it was a good serving.
I ordered the Linguine Amici with clams and chicken in a cream sauce for $18.50. It was a huge serving and I actually took home leftovers. The pasta was a little more than al dente, but not overcooked. The chunks of chicken were large, and it was real chicken with flavour – it wasn’t frozen chicken breasts bought in bulk and sliced. I was actually quite impressed with the dish – there was a lot flavour with the clams and a peppery cream sauce. The sauce wasn’t too rich or too greasy – even heating it up the next day it was perfect – it was just like it was the night before.
Jay ordered a medium all meat pizza and downed it!
Based on this experience, we will be back. For the price my pasta was a large serving and it was delicious!
