I met a couple ex-coworkers for breakfast Sunday morning at the Manor Bistro in Edmonton. I picked the restaurant based on the ability to make a reservation, menu, price and Zomato rating. The setting was quite nice – it was a cute historical building in the funky part of town, just off 124 Street.
Their daily specials looked really good but I decided to try something a little bit different. I chose the Spatzle Hash for $18 with duck confit, smoked bacon & onion jam, mushrooms, poached eggs, and bearnaise sauce. I was quite good, but I should remember that I’m more of a savoury breakfast person, and even this was a little too sweet with the bacon and onion jam. The spatzle was tasty for sure!
C ordered the omelette of the day and D ordered the salmon benedict (although I didn’t get a photo of it…).
I have to admit that I was not that impressed with the service. Our food was dropped off and no one came to check on us… C wanted ketchup for his potatoes and we couldn’t get the attention of any of the servers even though they were huddling around the bar area. He finally got up and went to the bar himself to ask for ketchup… not cool in my books.
Overall the experience was decent. If I lived in Edmonton I would definitely return and try other menu items. The venue was really neat and the food was good.
