Ogam Chicken is across from Chinook Mall and I’m guessing it can get pretty busy at times, since their website suggests pre-ordering your chicken so you don’t have to wait. We were craving fried chicken after running some errands, so went for a late lunch on a Saturday afternoon. We ordered the Crispy Fried Chicken (5 pieces for $12.90) with the Hot Soy Garlic Sauce on the side ($1.50). There were a lot of dishes we were not familiar with, but the photo of the Gamjatang (spicy pork backbone soup) looked really good. We got the small for $14.90 and it was huge. It also came with rice, kimchi, bean spouts, salad with a ginger dressing and pasta salad. We were totally stuffed after our meal and we didn’t even need supper!
Although we really dislike going down to Chinook Mall (traffic, people)… I think it’s worth the trip to this place. The chicken had a crazy crispy batter and the sauce was pretty tasty. The soup was awesome. Full of flavour and spice, my eyes watered and my nose ran, but it was super tasty – not just hot. The traditional Korean sides were good, and we were surprised at how good the lettuce with ginger dressing was. We will be back to try more of the tasty looking menu items and eat more chicken!
