I don’t know why I always forget about The Keg – it’s a great restaurant with consistently good food and good service. We were given a gift certificate for Christmas and I thought it was a good time to use it – Jay was craving a big steak and I am tired of spending money (with the renovations and all…)! We each ordered Keg sized caesar’s for $11.50 – pretty good, but I think these days a caesar should be served with more than a pickled bean and celery. Celery just seems lame to me.
It’s their Summer Lobster menu right now, so we shared an appy of bacon wrapped lobster – 6 pieces for $16. The zesty cocktail sauce was nice and zippy and the lobster cooked perfectly. The bacon could have been crispier, however, as some of the fat was chewy. Still, it was very enjoyable and it was nice that we each got 3 pieces.
I ordered the Lobster Sirloin from the Summer Lobster menu (see photo above). My steak was perfectly cooked and seasoned as I like it. I would have enjoyed more of the lobster veloute sauce because it was so good, but oh well. I had a decent pile of seafood – shrimp, scallops and lobster. Yum! The double stuffed baked potato was awesome – so much flavour and it wasn’t dry at all. I really enjoyed my dinner, and for $39 it was a decent price.
Jay wanted MEAT… so that’s what he got. He got the 20 oz rib steak and a double stuffed potato too. Compared to my 6 oz cut of steak, his steak was huge! Again, the steak was cooked perfectly and Jay was pretty happy to have some steak as leftovers for lunch the next day.
