I quite like Murrieta’s, and I wish there was a location closer to home. The ambience, the service, and the food are all quite good. There were just two of us for lunch, just before Christmas. Our reservation was for 11:30 and the place filled up pretty fast. We were greeted with a smile and seated quickly. Our server was hilarious – a budding magician (and apparent comedian) – he kept us entertained but was also a very good server.
I ordered the chicken parmesan sandwich with caesar salad – one of the specials of the day. My gluten free friend ordered the lamb burger with a gluten free bun (for an extra $3!). My friend said the buns typically fall apart, so she almost immediately took to it with a fork and knife. She said the lamb burger was really good, and she’s from New Zealand, so she knows good lamb! The fries were good – I tried one.
My chicken parmesan sandwich was quite good. The panko bread crumb crust was light and crispy. The toppings were fresh. I was, however, severely disappointed in the caesar salad. It was bitter, and I really didn’t enjoy it.
I’d like to eat at Murrieta’s more often – there are a lot of yummy looking dishes to try.
