I had a Travel Zoo coupon for lunch for two – a cocktail or wine each (up to $13 value) and an entrée each (up to $22 value). I paid $35 for the coupon so it was a pretty good deal. This was my first time at this restaurant, and it’s been on my wishlist for over a year, so I was pretty excited!
My friend had heard about a drink that The Living Room is apparently famous for, so we gave it a shot – The Shaft. It even has it’s own glass! It was a coffee based drink with Kahlua – supposedly it’s one for slamming down quickly, but we actually just enjoyed it slowly… And as per the coupon we each ordered a cocktail – I had the Cherry and my friend had the Plum. Both were enjoyable.
We both ended up ordering the Salmon entrée because we were wanting something light and flavourful. The salmon was cooked perfectly – the skin was crisp and the fish was moist. I usually don’t eat the skin, but this time I quite enjoyed it! The quinoa was just a little crunchier than I make at home, but it was good. It was served at room temperature – more of a salad. The roasted garlic beurre blanc sauce was awesome – light and buttery on the tongue, with a perfect amount of herb and garlic flavour. The asparagus was perfectly cooked. I scraped every little kernel of quinoa from my plate!
I am looking forward to returning for dinner! I’ve always thought the patio is awesome, so I’d love to try it on a nice day.
