I’ve been to this restaurant 4 or 5 times now – it’s been my favourite on Stephen Ave for a while now – reasonable prices, good service, and excellent food. But there’s a new summer menu, so I have to try everything all over again. I’ve only been for lunch with the new menu (not dinner yet), and I’m not sure I’m as in love as I used to be. I had the soup of the day which was really quite yummy. I also had the seared scallops from the tasting menu. They were good, but I thought the scallops were slightly underdone. I sometimes struggle with having to pay $16 for 3 scallops, but oh well… I was happy with my meal, but not in love. My co-worker ordered the jerk chicken club sandwich. He said the flavours were great and it tasted good, but the bun was braided, with poppy seeds sprinkled on top. I have two concerns with this approach 1) a braided bun falls apart when it’s eaten as a sandwich – or, at least his did. 2) poppy seeds on a bun suck. Who wants to have lunch with co-workers or friends and have to worry about poppy seeds getting stuck in their teeth?! I recommend the restaurant change the bun…
I’ll try a few more things off the new menu and hope they’re just as good as the last! Cheers!
