This place was recommended to us by a complete stranger, and we were glad we tried it. It’s a tiny little place; a narrow diner – an atmosphere I didn’t fall in love with. But, the food was quite good, and the service was great. We had a lot to eat for a decent price (a nice change for Calgary). There’s a parking lot in behind the restaurant and you can access the restaurant from behind. It was nice that we didn’t have to drive around to find a place to park.
We shared the calamari – it had a different kind of seasoning – not the typical lemon/dill seasoning. It was a tad chewy, but enjoyable.
We both had the soup with our meals – it was awesome! Creamy, spicy and flavourful… we were both drooling!
The ribs were good – fall off the bone. But my boyfriend makes awesome smoked ribs, so he’s very picky about restaurant ribs.
I had the special – wild boar ragu. It was melt-in-your-mouth like a good slow cooked ragu should be, with a hearty flavour. It was true comfort food. I did find it a tad greasy as the oil pooled along the edge of the dish, but it was also a fatty cut of meat and because I’m picky I scraped the bits of fat off the meat as I ate it.
The server asked if it was our first time in the restaurant and because it was, she gave us a complimentary tiramisu. This is my favourite dessert so I totally enjoyed it! It was also really nice to have a complimentary treat 🙂
I’d love to go back to the restaurant and have a burger – they sound awesome!
