We decided to go out for dinner for New Years eve… There were a number of options to choose from in Calgary; most restaurants hosting a 5 course meal for $95pp (there were some fancier places charging $110pp). I’d been to Charcut for lunch a couple times, but what they served for dinner was awesome compared to what I’ve had there in the past.
Sorry for the shadows in the photos… the lighting was limited and we just had our cell phones. No fancy photography here! Where there were 2 options to choose from we decided to get one of each so we could try both options. For the main Jason got the prime rib and I got the porchetta. The menu didn’t indicate the porchetta came with polenta, and I’m glad it didn’t or else I wouldn’t have chosen it… however, the polenta was amazing! Creamy and cheesy and oh so good (I will search for a good looking recipe and give it a shot myself soon).
Everything was so delicious! I was actually slightly surprised at how good it all was 🙂
The smoked pickerel dish was so complex and full of flavors and textures. Jason said if this dish were on the regular menu we’d go back again and again!
Mushroom soup
The lobster and esargot were awesome of course! We just needed more bread to soak up the sauce… Mmmmm…
Lobster and escargot
The chorizo meatball had cheese inside. Yum! Oh, and it was HUGE. At this point, we were already full!
The polenta and duck fat brussels sprouts were to die for! OMG… So delish!
We were in such a food coma by this time we totally forgot to take photos of our desserts!
