A quick post – I made my way over to The Street Eatery downtown after meeting a long-time friend for a drink after work. I was hungry and alone (and yes, I was OK with it!) so I wanted a place that was quick and easy to access and where I wouldn’t be stared at for eating by myself. I’ve always had issues eating alone in restaurants, but I’m getting much better with it at my ripe old age of almost 40 🙂 The server was super friendly and made me feel comfortable, so that was an added bonus.
Anyways, I had a really tough time trying to decide what to eat because so many things sound so delicious on the menu. Since I no longer eat red meat it takes a few options off the table, but there are still plenty of tasty items to choose from on the diverse menu. I went with the KFC (Korean Fried Chicken) Sandwich for just $12. Served on a ciabatta bun is a huge piece of buttermilk fried chicken, gochujang, peanuts, kimchi apple slaw, and Korean chili aioli. Honestly, the flavours were amazing. There were so many different layers of sweet and spicy and so many different textures with the chewy bun, the crunchy yet tender chicken and the random crunch from the peanuts (I loved the peanuts in this sandwich – who would have thought?!)… This was the best sandwich I’ve had in a long time. The house cut potato chips are great too (although I really should have got the house salad since I’m trying to eat healthy…).
For just $12 I had a delicious and very filling dinner. I honestly don’t understand why people go to crap food fast food joints when there are tasty and inexpensive places like The Street Eatery in town. You must go here and eat!
