In my time in Calgary I’ve eaten out a lot. And I mean, a lot… but at the same time, there are still so many more restaurants that I need to try! Below is my list of favourite places and favourite dishes so far. I expect that this list will change over time as I try more and more restaurants. As well, I recognize that restaurants change their menus regularly, and some of my favourite dishes may disappear (boo). I also realize that not every experience is the same… unfortunately, even if the food is great the experience can be ruined by bad service.
Please comment: What are your favourite restaurants and dishes in Calgary? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
Overall Favourite Calgary Restaurants:
#1 – Q Haute – based on a multi-course dinner menu, venue, atmosphere, service and overall experience
- The neat thing about Q Haute is that you can purchase discounted gift cards from Costco – $100 value for $80. As well, they have an awesome deal you can purchase from Costco online – $100 for 2 people! If you are looking for a place to go for a special occasion, I strongly encourage you to try Q Haute and take advantage of the gift cards or the deal.
#2 – Briggs – based on menu and service
- If you have read my reviews of Briggs, I really think that out of all the places I’ve tried, this restaurant is the best bang for the buck in Calgary. The food is super delicious and the prices are decent. The restaurant can get noisy at the busy lunch hour and also on a Friday or Saturday night, so I recommend going for dinner on a night that will be less busy. Also, check out the website to see when the lobster rolls are available. Delicious!
#3 – Home Tasting Room – based on dinner menu and atmosphere
- Pretty good bang for the buck, and within walking distance to Arts Common. I like that you can see into the kitchen, and the restaurant is nice and open but not too noisy. The menu changes seasonally. Sadly, one of my favourite dishes isn’t available any longer. Other than one salad I didn’t like, I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve had here. I think I’ve been here 5 times!
